Dont these scum who advocate politicians should say more and do more,
just give you the shits?
Below is a letter in BOP Times today from a chap calling himself
Russell Fletcher, you'll note some fantastic similarities between what
this chap says and the style used by Google poster Redbaiter, you can
make up your own minds, mine already is.
Below Mr Fletcher's letter is a reply I have just sent off.
Dear editor
I am sick of lily-livered compromising politically correct,
say-nothing do-less politicians.
What is wrong with Bay residents that they elect as mayor someone who
doesn't have the spine to stand up for Tauranga when it is being
verbally assaulted by some old past-his-use-by-date, commie throw-back
from Auckland.
I was bitterly disappointed at the words of Mayor Jan Beange
"Sometimes the truth can be quite cutting." What truth? Is Ms Beange
saying she agrees with Gordon McLauchlan's description of Taurangans
as obsessive, hate filled, fear-driven bigoted racists. I hope she is
not including me.
She then waffles on on with the most annoying PC drivel I've heard in
a while, about "positive energy". I wonder, was Ms Beange once
employed as a psychic healer?
I couldn't imagine Auckland mayor John Banks taking that tripe from
McLauchlan without giving him a good verbal biff under the ear or,
perhaps, even a physical one.
That's the kind of positive energy I would like to see. Ms Beange can
forget about my vote in the next election. I want a mayor with the
spunk to defend Tauranga against the kind of rubbish spouted by the
likes of McLauchlan and not lie down and take it as if she is in some
politically correct jelly backed coma.

Dear editor
Russell Fletcher (Letters BOP Times 20 January) unbelievably,
complains of "say nothing, do less politicians", as if, New Zealand
politics wasn't riddled with "say too much - do too much" politicians,
now.
It seems a little odd, that someone who seems to be "baiting Reds,"
does so, from a position of being an irrational, hypocritical and
parochial collectivist himself.
If only Russell Fletcher would advocate, "small government", where
politicians in fact "said nothing - did less", then oh wouldn't our
lives be blissful.
Not only is Russell Fletcher guilty of the very accusations he makes
against Mayor Jan Beange and Gordon McLauchlan, what Fletcher then
advocates is much worse, Fletcher advocates physical violence be used
against those who do nothing more than exercise free speech. Not once
did Gordon McLauchlan suggest that Russell Fletcher should have his
"chin biffed" for speaking his mind.
Russell Fletcher claims, he will vote for a Mayor who can "defend a
geographical area, (Tauranga) from verbal assaults" how weird.
Russell Fletcher should learn to grow up, stop being so pathetic,
learn to take criticisms and respect and advocate the right of people
to speak their minds without threats of physical violence.
We have lost many of our rightful freedoms through socialism as it is,
so please Mr Fletcher, let people speak their minds and then argue
your position from non-contradicting, rational, peaceful therefore
moral grounds.
